Police filmed three distracted drivers on the M6 and M40
This shocking footage released by the police shows three drivers applying make-up, eating a McDonald's and working on a laptop all whilst driving with no hands at the wheel of their cars. Each of the reckless motorists were travelling down the M6 and M40 when they were captured on film by officers in an unmarked lorry.
In a third incident, a motorist was spotted driving along the M40 with a phone in her hand seemingly scrolling through messages. At one point, both of her hands come off the wheel. The footage was released ahead of a multi-agency week of action, from June 3 to June 9, which will target unsafe drivers along the length of the M6. National Highways Head of National Road User Safety Delivery, Matt Staton, said: "We know the shocking examples identified by police in our unmarked cabs are carried out by a small minority.
