This operation was one of several conduced by the force as part of the neighbourhood policing week of action
Nottinghamshire Police officers have been positioning themselves at different locations with speed guns as part of an effort to slow motorists down. The high visibility operation took place on Friday, January 27, to deter speeding drivers across Basford and Wollaton.
However, the operation also led to Nottinghamshire Police seizing a vehicle after the driver was found to have no insurance. PC Cameron Toone, of the city west neighbourhood policing team, said: “Operations like the one carried out on Friday play a key role in helping deter motorists from speeding and educating them about the consequences this can have.
PC Toone added: "Pulling someone over and having that chat with them about not driving too fast could ultimately prevent an accident from happening further down the line. It’s fair to say that nobody wants to see anyone get hurt on the roads, which is why we’re so committed to working with the community to prevent this from happening.”
This operation was one of several conduced by the force across the city west area, as part of the neighbourhood policing week of action, which runs from 23-29 January 2023. The neighbourhood policing team have also been prioritising tackling youth-related antisocial behaviour. Officers rode the tram between the Wilkinson Street and Highbury Vale stops in Basford during the evening of Thursday, January 26, in a bid to limit the anti-social behaviour and other low-level offences on board. The officers are working in partnership with Nottingham Express Transit for these visible patrols.
