Dublin Airport staff and passengers raise staggering amount for three Irish charities in 2019

Dublin Airport staff and passengers raised more than €300,000 for three Irish charities in 2019 alone.Last year generous DAA staff, ran marathons, arranged monster draws, baked cakes, held book sales, wore their Christmas jumper to work, took part in quiz nights, race nights, raffles and a host of other events in an effort to raise €330,000 for the charities.

The funds were split equally between Debra Ireland which assists people living with the painful, skin condition epidermolysis bullosa, the Gary Kelly Cancer Support Centre and Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Ireland. Members of the public also support the scheme through collection points throughout the airport for passenger donations.Debra Ireland said it was “completely overwhelmed and in awe of daa staff,” while the Gary Kelly Cancer Support Centre described the €110,000 cheque as “mind-blowing” adding that it would allow it to “future proof” its services.

Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Ireland said it is “forever grateful to daa,” as the money will help to fund a new project focussing on equality for everyone living with Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus.
