The report recommends a ‘step change’ in how the inner city is developed – and calls for the regeneration of the area.

Back in May, the Taoiseach Simon Harris asked the taskforce to produce a report, aimed at improving public safety and making the city a more desirable place to live, work and visit.

Headed up by former An Post CEO David McRedmond, the taskforce included a range of groups, including Gardaí, the National Transport Agency and Dublin City Council.It is understood the final report contains 10 major initiatives to revive the inner city. They include significant recommendations for the revitalisation of O’Connell Street, with plans to revitalise the GPO as a major public building.Some of the proposals for the building considered by the taskforce includeThe Taskforce did not recommend a decision on the building.It recommends a ‘step change’ in how the inner city is developed – and calls for the regeneration of the area to be managed as a special programme.
