Dublin dealer shot on driveway 'over drug debt' as gardai launch murder investigation
Convicted dealer Cormac Berkeley, 34, was hit eight times outside his home in Clondalkin, West Dublin, on Monday night.
Sources say Berkeley was well known to gardai and had served time in prison and has a conviction for possession of drugs for the purposes of sale or supply. He died in August two months after he was shot in an underground car park in Kilmainham in the capital. Sources said he was aware there was a threat to his life – but he remained defiant and would not be intimidated from his home. His house had also been attacked in recent months, sources say.
Forensic officers combed the scene, which remained sealed off and had a tent and a screen erected inside.
