The newly opened Dempsey's Bar in Balbriggan has faced some backlash for its strict entrance policy. A raft of rules includes a controversial ban on wearing coats inside.
A new pub in Dublin has come under fire for its entrance policy, which bans customers from wearing coats inside.
It reads: "The management strictly reserve the right to refuse admission to the premises. Entrance policy: Strictly over 23's - Proof of age required "Admission and service may be refused where a member of staff forms the opinion that a person/persons either in attendance or wishing to attend the premises have consumed an excessive amount of alcohol, are inebriated, cross-faded, abusive and/or have been aggressive to a members of staff or patrons alike."
A third person added their two cents, saying: "It's not the 90s anymore. No trainers or T-shirts? They may as well have put over 50's on the sign."

The tab at the Oliver St John Gogarty pub came to an eye-watering €47.70 for two pints of Guinness at €9.95 each, a vodka for €10.65 with a Red Bull mixer at €6.20 and a pint of Kilkenny for €10.95. According to the receipt, the purchase was made at 2.56pm on Easter Sunday, March 31. The slip clarified at the bottom that “all prices include live music from 12pm to 1.45am”. The receipt was given to Fine Gael councillor Jim Gildea while out canvassing. He shared it on social media, stating his concerns about the tourism industry.
