With Howard and his Dublin teammates Brian Fenton and Sean MacMahon on the books along with Mayo ‘keeper Hennelly and a number of others who have inter-county pedigree, they would appear to have the raw material to push on.

They club has never won the Dublin Championship, coming closest in 1970 when they lost the final to St Vincent’s, the only occasion on which they have reached the decider.

“In the penalty shootout, Rob Hennelly dived the right way for Shane Walsh's and Paul Mannion's but there was no way he was saving any of them. Ah look, it was unfortunate. We just came up a bit short for last year but hopefully we can build on it now and plough on.” “Unfortunately we fell short against Na Fianna last week but they'd be one of the big dogs in Dublin football as we all know.

“But it was something that after getting the opportunity to go travelling I wanted then a good pre-season under the belt to put my best foot forward but unfortunately that was just prolonged a bit and when the lads were playing league games I was doing my pre-season pretty much. “Look, we're going to be watching that game for the next couple of months when we're back with Dublin, to get the learnings from it.
