Nora and her husband Richard had four children, who are all still alive, and lived most of their lives on the Swords Road in the city.
One of the country’s oldest citizens has celebrated her 105th birthday surrounded by her family and friends.
Nora Whyte was born in 1918 on Dublin’s North Circular Road just as World War 1 was coming to an end. Five years ago she received her cheque from President Michael D Higgins along with a silver medal which all centurions receive when they reach 100. And every year after that get another medal to mark each year after that.“I have five of these now”, Nora joked as she cut the cake to celebrate her birthday in the Merrion Hotel in Dublin.He said: “She’s wonderful and had a great life. She loved to travel well into her 70s and liked going to Italy and had been to Rome and Lake Garda.
