League of Ireland manager Damien Duff reveals he turned down interest from a big English club to remain committed to Shelbourne and his passion for the domestic league.
Damien Duff has revealed that he received interest from a prominent English club, but he immediately dismissed the opportunity. The League of Ireland-winning manager of Shelbourne , known for his passion for the Tolka Park club, stated that he has no intention of managing abroad for at least six years. His assistant, Joey O'Brien, a former West Ham and Bolton defender, informed him of the interest from the English club, but Duff didn't even entertain the conversation.
He emphasized his commitment to Shelbourne, stating that he wants to remain at the club regardless of any other offers. Duff's former Ireland teammate, Robbie Keane, has ventured into management with stints in India, Israel, and currently Hungary, but Duff has no immediate plans to follow suit. He expressed that his greatest achievement was winning the league in Ireland, and he finds immense fulfillment in his current role. Duff stated that his priority is his family, Shelbourne, and the League of Ireland itself. He expressed his passion for the league's growth and believes it surpasses the national team in terms of inspiration. While he acknowledges a desire to explore the world in the future, he remains dedicated to Shelbourne for the foreseeable future
