The Steelmen's trip to the City of Discovery on Saturday could be in jeopardy

It has been suggested Saturday's clash at Dens Park might be played at an alternative venue due to the heavy rain forecast over the coming days and the ongoing issues with the Dens Park surface.

If either game is postponed, there would be no place in the calendar to slot a rescheduled fixture in before the finals game ahead of the Premiership split are played on April 13.Next door neighbours Dundee United are away from home at the weekend, as are other near rivals St Johnstone and Arbroath so their grounds are being mooted as possible alternatives.

A statement read: "Dundee Football Club want to respond to media speculation regarding the club being forced to move Saturday’s match against Motherwell away from the Scot Foam Stadium. The club want to clarify the situation regarding this."The club have had a full grounds team along with consultants working on the pitch since the postponement of the Rangers match along with all the associated machinery and this will continue right up until Saturday.
