Dave Bautista teases a more intense experience in Dune 2. 'There's just so much going on, it's so much more cutthroat and political and intense.'

Dave Bautista is teasing a cutthroat atmosphere for Dune Part Two. The preceding movie Dune introduces Paul Atreides, a son of House Atreides after his family is forced into a war on the surface of the planet Arrakis, the only source of the powerful and hallucinogenic drug needed to enable faster-than-light travel.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY While Dune is an interesting movie with an exceptionally long runtime, Dune Part Two promises to have a sharper pace with more intrigue and action along the way. With all the set-up done and Paul developing into his own, Dune Part Two is ready to throw him head-first into his role as Kwisatz Haderach.

“This is so amped up from the first film. The first film was just an introduction to what this film is. There's just so much going on, it's so much more cutthroat and political and intense. And there are moments of levity where [there are] some funny moments, and they're kind of absurd humor, but there are those moments. So it's just so much more amped up than the first film.

The project also has the opportunity to introduce more of the wider galaxy, rather than remaining largely on Arrakis, where the scope is much more limited by the harsh geography and conditions. With Paul on his way to influence on a grand scale, he needs the opportunity to establish himself and prove his own worth by heading off into space. Dune 2 is going to be much bigger than the first with Paul gaining the alliance of the Fremens and working to build control over Arrakis.

Dune 2 will also feature a changed Paul, as the character grows more confident in his place and begins to earn the trust of those around him. Rather than laying back and becoming a passive figure, Paul is going to take the reins of his life and charge forward into the heart of the cutthroat world of politics. Though Dune already had high stakes, more than House Atreides is at risk for Paul now, as he starts to get a handle on his prescience abilities on his path to power.
