Dunnes Stores is facing a large tax bill over sites it owns in Cork city under the government’s crackdown on vacant land that could be used for housing
.
From February 2024, a Residential Zoned Land Tax , levied at 3 per cent on a site’s market value, will come into force. Last November, land owners were notified by local authorities if they would be liable to pay the new tax.
