Families could see their payments, including Child Benefit and Universal Credit, made on different dates in December – here's what it means for you
Anyone claiming benefits such as Universal Credit and Child Benefit may notice a change to their payments in December. The Department for Work and Pensions is to pay certain benefit claimants their money on different dates. This is a temporary change caused by the festive period but knowing the dates you could be paid instead could help you budget.
Which benefits will be affected? The following DWP and HMRC payments will be affected by the bank holiday: Attendance Allowance Carer’s Allowance Employment Support Allowance Jobseeker’s Allowance Pension Credit Personal Independence Payment State pension Universal Credit Working Tax Credit Child Tax Credit Child Benefit Guardian’s Allowance However, the change will only affect you if you are already due a payment on one of these dates – either 25 or 26 December 2023 or 1 January 2024 .
