The Department for Work and Pensions is urging Brits to act fast if they want to secure the £150 Warm Home Discount. .
The one-off payment, which can help cut down on energy bills, will go out automatically by your energy supplier to anyone who qualifies on low income. People need to have been claiming Pension Credit on or before Sunday, August 21 this year. But anyone who claims Pension Credit now and is successful could have the claim backdated for up to three months, Chronicle Live reports.
Pension Credit is separate from your State Pension. You can get Pension Credit even if you have other income, savings or own your own home.Cold Weather Payment is another government scheme to help people during the cold winter months. You may get the payment if you’re getting certain benefits or Support for Mortgage Interest. You’ll get a payment if the average temperature in your area is recorded as, or forecast to be, zero degrees Celsius or below over seven consecutive days.
