Discovery of neurons that allow mice to recognize others NatureComms

. Although the current study did not directly test whether the dorsal CA1 is critical for discriminating between a novel and a familiar mouse, our results clearly indicate that the dorsal CA1 is required for discriminating between two familiar mice, consistent with a previous reports.

In addition to the differences mentioned above between our individual discrimination paradigm and the social novelty preference paradigms, we speculate that several advantageous features of our behavioral paradigm may also have helped us identify individual mouse-specific activity. First, both the subject and the stimulus mice were head-fixed, thereby removing several confounding factors.

Fibroblasts are a site of murine cytomegalovirus lytic replication and Stat1-dependent latent persistence in vivo - Nature CommunicationsFibroblasts are a site of murine cytomegalovirus lytic replication and Stat1-dependent latent persistence in vivo - Nature CommunicationsFibroblasts are an established cell type permissive for cytomegalovirus infection. Here the authors identify a population of fibroblast cells that can support murine cytomegalovirus lytic and latent virus infection in vivo and propose STAT1 as critically involved in murine cytomegalovirus latency.

Neural dynamics and architecture of the heading direction circuit in zebrafish - Nature NeuroscienceNeural dynamics and architecture of the heading direction circuit in zebrafish - Nature NeuroscienceIn this study, Petrucco, Lavian et al. identify a circuit in the hindbrain of larval zebrafish that persistently encodes heading direction. Neurons of this network, of stereotypical morphology, inhibit each other to support ring attractor dynamics.
