A second security alert is underway in east Belfast after a suspicious object was discovered on the Newtownards Road, PoliceServiceNI say
Police are currently attending two security alerts following the discovery of suspicious objects in east Belfast.
Officers were called to the Newtownards Road after a device was found at about 19:39 BST on Friday, and remain at the scene.Cordons are in place and the public have been asked to avoid both areas. The police operation surrounding the second alert is taking place near the Skainos Centre, in which several charities and community groups are based.
Residents of an apartment block within the police cordon are waiting outside as investigations continue, with bomb disposal officers and robotic equipment at the scene.It is understood the security alert is taking place near the Skainos Centre on the Newtownards Road
