Tonight Lola tragically succumb to her cancer in EastEnders. The stars of the show Danielle Harold and Jamie Borthwick say filming the heartbreaking death scenes has brought them closer.
'It was very tough. It was important to keep it as light as possible. I’m a child and a joker anyway, it was important for me to have a little laugh and a joke, we are very fortunate that we’re not in that position, and it’s important that we recognise that for obvious reasons.
'It was just important to do that so we could go home at the end of the night, know that we had done a good day’s work and know that we have been trying to tell the story as honestly as we can and in the best way that we can. 'For our mental state, it was important that we remember it’s just our work and really important to know that we can close the door on it at the end of the day.'Danielle also reflected on the atmosphere during the shoot, revealing that it felt very 'respectful'.
'The vibe on set was very, just so respectful, I can’t tell you how respectful it felt, it really was a completely different vibe that I had never felt before. I think it was because everyone on set had been affected by cancer, it just meant so much to everybody that we got it correct.' Jamie agreed, saying: 'As Danielle said, it was really respectful on set, we had a lovely crew as well and our director, Karl Neilson, he had recently lost his mum I believe, a couple of months before. He was adamant that he felt he knew a way to do this and really wanted to see it through.MORE :
