It comes as Britain faces a cold, wet and windy start to this week as conditions turn unsettled following bright sunshine and 18.8C highs last week. This shift will also see the country face cooler air on the northern side of the jet with temperatures falling to low as 2C in Scotland and 6C in England tonight.
Today will see the weather impacted by a ridge of high pressure pulling away from Europe, while low pressure will return from the West, turning it wet and windy. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain and snow in Scotland tomorrow, with temperatures set to plummet from Stirlingshire to John O'Groats.
It added that at elevations above 650ft, 'snow is more likely, mainly 1-2cm of slushy deposits, but 2-5cm possible in some places affecting higher transport routes'.
