The streaming giant launched the Irish version of the hit show in 2024

Comedian Ed Byrne has revealed why he wasn’t on the Irish version of Amazon’s LOL: Last One Laughing – saying he didn’t want to be accused of being a “stony-faced misery”.

Last year, the streaming giant launched the Irish version of the hit show, with stars such as Amy Huberman and Jason Byrne all taking part, which was hosted by Graham Norton. But speaking to Chris Moyles on his Radio X show, Ed said he was turned off being part of the show after he met the Australian winner who told him she had received a lot of hate mail from being on it.

He said: “No, I actually wouldn't. I’d be out pretty early, I reckon. I love hanging out with comedians, because they make me laugh. Yeah, and I reckon I would be out pretty early.“I met the woman who won the Australian one, which I think was the first one. And she said she got a lot of hate mail. She got a lot of hate online for being, quote, unquote, ‘a miserable cow,’ because she was stony faced the whole time, which is the whole point of the show.”“She was going to get trouble.
