A LOOK BACK: Boxing fans could not help but poke fun at Eddie Hearn, who looked unsure as to whether he was embarrassed by the whole experience or amused
Two years ago, Eddie Hearn humorously found himself staring at the ceiling when Ebanie Bridges sported her most audacious lingerie set. Bridges, 38, is known for her colourful sense of humour and bold lingerie choices.
However, when the former IBF bantamweight world champion weighed in for her bout against Shannon O'Connell in 2022, she sported a see-through, black bra complete with dark, lace pants. Hearn did not know where to look. Boxing fans could not help but poke fun at Hearn, who looked unsure as to whether he was embarrassed by the whole experience or amused. Either way, it proved to be another unforgettable moment in Bridges' boxing career. Bridges removed her jacket and initially unveiled a Leeds United shirt. She then went on to show off a white t-shirt with OnlyFans written on the top. When she took that top off, she sported her black lace lingerie set as well as a temporary OnlyFans tattoo on her abdomen. As she stepped on the scales, Hearn could be seen looking away into space. One year before, Hearn explained his strategy for when Bridges dons her lingerie clothes. He said: "Anywhere the eyes look, there are cameras everywhere, do you know what I mean? "So the best way to go about it is just to look somewhere else. Ebanie knows what she's doing. She's a tremendous fighter. Obviously, a lot of people want to see her weigh-in as well. "It is what it is, but for me, it's not about keeping composure, it's about making sure the camera doesn't catch me at a particular time where I might be looking somewhere that looks like I'm looking somewhere else. I'm respectful of that and I think I'll just find a spot at the back of the wall somewhere." In the build-up, O'Connell described Bridges as a "skanky stripper" and repeatedly hit out at the Australian. Bridges responded in an interview with the Daily Mail Australia when she said: "She just hates me, and we've never met. She keeps saying things about me, calling me a ‘skanky stripper’ - I’m apparently 'naked' because I’m wearing lingerie. Everyone wears underwear. What the f***! "The message I’m pushing is stop judging women. I’m embracing my femininity. She thinks I’m disrespecting the sport, but she’s getting the highest payday in her life times ten. All in one pay-check! She’s only known because of me now.” Bridges would go on to prove that she is a top fighter with a dominant victory over O'Connell. After dropping O'Connell with a huge right hand in the eighth round, Bridges went on to stop her fellow Australian in the eighth to retain her IBF crown. Just under a year later, Bridges would lose her title to Japanese star Miyo Yoshida in San Francisco. Yoshida secured a unanimous decision victory with scorecards of 91-99, 93-97 and 91-99 in her favour.
