Six Lancashire parks are in the running to be crowned UK's Favourite Park.
The green spaces are dotted around the county and have all been nominated by locals who think their park is the best in the country. The UK’ Favourite Park is organised by the charity Fields in Trust, who for over 90 years have legally protected parks and green spaces ensuring they will always be available for future generations to enjoy.
Open every day between dawn and dusk, the park is split into four zones: the north and western formal gardens; the eastern area lake and woodland area; and the south stretch containing children’s play areas and sports facilities. Worden Park, Leyland Worden Park is a hidden gem, situated on the edge of Leyland it could be described as a Country Park in the town.
The fantastic Georgian Walled Garden has been restored to show the wonderful working gardens that would have served the Hall, the garden can be found in the heart of Worden Park, where you can see the original historic features and a variety of veg, perennials, herbs and flowers. Corporation Park, Blackburn Corporation park is a traditional Victorian park close to the centre of Blackburn. The park is now registered by English Heritage as a park and garden of special historic interest. The park is spread across 18 hectares and has tennis courts, bowling greens, two playgrounds, a cycle track and two multi use game areas.
