Eileen Gleeson has been appointed as the new head coach of Ireland's women's national team. She led the team to six victories in the UEFA Women’s Nations League and will now lead them into the qualifying phase for the 2025 UEFA Women’s European Championships.
Eileen Gleeson had insisted she didn't want the job but the 51-year-old has been appointed as the new head coach of the women's national team . Gleeson took over the reins on an interim basis from September, replacing Vera Pauw in the hot-seat, and delighted in leading Ireland to six victories out of six in the UEFA Women’s Nations League, a perfect record that earned the squad promotion to League A.
She had described the role as the best job in the world but was reluctant to give up her role as the FAI's Head of Women and Girls' Football, the influential post she took on in January of this year.
