Eir Announces Strong Q2 Revenue Growth and Solid Financial Performance
Eir, Q2 2026 Results, Telecommunications

Eir reports a 6 per cent rise in underlying revenue for Q2 2026, with adjusted EBITDA up €9 million and pre‑tax profit increasing €7 million year‑on‑year, despite declines in voice traffic and pre‑pay revenue. Mobile, fibre and TV segments record gains, underpinning future network expansion plans.

Eir reported a noticeable uptick in overall revenue during the second quarter of the year, bolstering its position as Ireland's primary telecommunications provider. The underlying revenue for the quarter increased by 6 per cent, equating to an additional €19 million, bringing total earnings for the period to €336 million.

When the first half of the year is considered, the company's aggregate revenue reached €652 million, reflecting a modest 3 per cent year‑on‑year rise. Despite a decline in voice‑traffic revenue, Eir's data services witnessed a healthy expansion, offsetting the weak areas. Adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) climbed to €169 million in the second quarter, a €9 million improvement over the same month last year.

However, pre‑tax profit recorded €36 million, marking an increase of €7 million relative to 2025. The first six months of the year saw pre‑tax profit decline to €56 million from €61 million in the corresponding period last year, largely attributed to heightened costs of finance and other operational expenses. The company's core business streams continued to deliver positive momentum.

Fixed‑line revenue for the first half of the year rose 2 per cent to €477 million, while mobile revenue grew 8 per cent to €195 million, driven by a 17 per cent jump in roaming income and a 9 per cent increase in billed revenue. Conversely, pre‑pay mobile revenue fell 7 per cent during the same period. Mobile customer numbers expanded by 7 per cent to 1.337 million in billed services, representing 83 per cent of the mobile base.

Overall, Eir's mobile subscriber count rose 5 per cent to 1.6 million. Fibre broadband penetration also progressed, with the customer base reaching 899,000 after a 1 per cent rise. The provider estimates that more than 1.5 million premises across the island can access fibre‑to‑the‑home services, up 9 per cent compared with the same period last year. The television segment reported 118,000 households subscribing to Eir TV, reflecting a 6 per cent growth rate.

Chief financial officer Stephen Tighe praised the group's performance for the quarter, noting that the results aligned with expectations and underscored the consistency of the company's commercial momentum. He highlighted the benefit of organic revenue growth stemming from the firm's strategic initiatives and workforce dedication. During a press briefing, the CEO reiterated the importance of Eir's networks as critical infrastructure, positioning the company as a key enabler of Ireland's future competitiveness with reliable connectivity for individuals, communities and businesses.

Outlook and strategic focus Eir's leadership conveyed confidence in sustaining the upward trajectory through continued investment in network expansion and service innovation. The company underlined its commitment to delivering high‑quality telecommunications solutions while maintaining fiscal discipline. Anticipated initiatives include scaling fibre connectivity further, enhancing mobile data offerings and exploring digital shift to strengthen market dominance. The organization's broader strategy, according to the executives, seeks to consolidate Eir's central role in Ireland's digital economy.

By fostering an environment of reliable, high‑speed communication, the firm aims to support the country's economic growth, bridging gaps across urban and rural areas alike. This vision reinforces the company's dedication to being a catalyst for national connectivity and progress in the digital era
