A woman has died after being hit by a car in Tallaght, Dublin.

The victim, who was in her 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene and her remains were taken to the City Morgue at Whitehall for a post-mortem.Gardaí say the car initially failed to remain at the scene - but has since been identified and found.

The road remains shut for an examination by Forensic Collision Investigator and Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to get in touch.
