The significant amount of remaining votes, of which all but an estimated 1,085 are mail-in-ballots, will likely give hope to candidates currently staring down defeat while worrying those who have seen their leads narrow since the initial returns came out around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.Over the years, there are plenty examples of races getting tighter and tighter, until the the candidate who was originally trailing jumps ahead.
For another, this isn’t a statewide lag in ballots we’re talking about. If that were the case, there’d be a higher chance that a large chunk of those votes came from an ideologically segregated area. On the county level, there will likely be fewer of those, even when looking at larger congressional districts.If, for example, a race has remained relatively consistent with each registrar update, it’s likely that the remaining ballots will have a similar distribution to the ones already tallied.
