The 21st iteration of Ireland's biggest music festival will feature headliners Fontaines DC, Gorillaz, Lewis Capaldi and CMAT. The festival has introduced women's urinals and a new dedicated dining area, Nomad, which will host 150 people a day. The festival is expected to be attended by 80,000 people over the three days and features musicians, artists, circus, yogis, podcasts, talks and comedy.
Irish band Florence Road took to the stage at the Electric Picnic festival in Stradbally, Co Laois, ahead of this weekend's event. The festival, which is Ireland's biggest music festival, will feature headliners Fontaines DC, Gorillaz, Lewis Capaldi and CMAT.
Festival Republic managing director Melvin Benn said that the women's urinals that have been introduced at the festival have been a success, having been used at the company's UK gigs, Glastonbury and Barcelona's Primavera Sound. The urinals are reportedly more hygienic and reduce toilet queues as they are three times faster to use than normal portaloos.
The festival has also seen a shake-up in its food options, with a new dedicated dining area, Nomad, which will host 150 people a day and feature two bookable restaurants. The festival is expected to be attended by 80,000 people over the three days and features musicians, artists, circus, yogis, podcasts, talks and comedy. This year, the comedy tent has added an extra night of scheduling, kicking off at 6pm on Friday night instead of the usual Saturday-Sunday programming.
The festival also features a new wellness space, the Barefoot Garden in Croí, which is designed to be a space where people can take off their shoes and run barefoot. Festival Republic's Melvin Benn believes that change and great line-ups are the key to the festival's longevity. This year's edition is sold out, with tickets for the 2027 festival going on sale on Tuesday, September 1st
