Vogue speaks to ElleFanning about her experience at Cartier’s High Jewellery launch in Florence.
Cartier’s mastery in modularity wasn’t the only thing being celebrated in the Italian city. The jeweller’s latest High Jewellery extravaganza – which features over 80 painstakingly crafted unique pieces – appeared as a visual love letter to the signatures of the maison, delighting in chromatic harmonies, architectural lines and Art Deco, the animal kingdom and natural world, idiosyncratic greens and blues and surprise splashes of yellow gold.
Fanning’s own fascination with Cartier links back to her love of classic Hollywood glamour. She is the face of the maison’s Grain de Café collection, an offering inspired by the humble coffee bean which was first showcased in 1938, and was beloved by one of the American actress’s cinematic icons, Grace Kelly. “She’s my icon…the campaign was about nostalgia for the past and a homage to Grace Kelly” Fanning says. “I find the rich history of the brand so incredible.
