A police officer was cleared of crashing into a driver and injuring him after prosecutors pulled the charge.
Stuart Maclennan, 43, was alleged to have driven without due care or attention in Glasgow's Mount Florida on February 14.
Court papers stated that Maclennan was driving a police vehicle with lights and sirens activated when he collided with a Honda vehicle.The Honda vehicle was also said to have been damaged. Maclennan, an Elvis Impersonator, hit headlines in December 2021 when a £5,000 covid grant was the subject of a probe.
The officer submitted the application to support his business - which is against the rules if he had another job or full-time income. Maclennan pleaded not guilty to a charge of causing injury by careless driving at Glasgow's Justice of the Peace court.A Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal spokesperson said: “It is the duty of the Crown to keep cases under review, and following full and careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the case, including the available admissible evidence, the Procurator Fiscal decided that there should be no further criminal proceedings at this time.
