In neighborhoods with sirens, residents may see work crews and hear an occasional brief siren sound while maintenance work is underway. Additionally, September marks National Preparedness Month, and the city’s Office of Emergency Management has issued a reminder that residents should seek shelter indoors and watch for updates via local media if they hear sirens during a non-testing event.
The siren system was updated last fall to include all new components. Additionally, brighter flashing strobe lights were installed in February..
