It was an unbelievable day of drama at the Cheltenham Festival
A very emotional Cheltenham Festival got under way on Tuesday as all those in attendance remembered Michael O'Sullivan.
"We can just count ourselves very lucky that we did know him for the short that we did – very lucky to have known such an incredible young man.” Kopek Des Bordes is owned by Charlie McCarthy along with his four sons through Monabeg Investments Ltd and it was a special win for him after undergoing surgery for cancer just 11 days ago.
“That’s National Hunt racing, the small man can have a say in it and I’m no small man but I am the small man here. National Hunt racing is what I love.” “It is very poignant with the connection with Michael," said Connell. "He started his career in our yard as a 7lb-claiming amateur and ended the season winning the Supreme and being leading rider after the Tuesday at the Festival.
