Speaking to Russian state television, Putin described Mr Berlusconi as ‘a politician of a European, I even might say of a global scale’.‘He was a great friend of our people and did a lot to develop business and friendly relations.‘He had a privilege that politicians of his calibre don’t have – and the privilege was that he said what he thought.They were close political allies
