A man was tragically killed after being crushed in an incident at a hospital in Dublin

An electrical and mechanical engineering company has been issued with a €400,000 fine over the death of an employee in a workplace incident.

On November 23, 2023, a four-person team was tasked with installing plant and equipment on a site at St Patrick’s University Hospital, James Street, Dublin 8. John Fletcher Limited had previously pleaded guilty to four charges in breach of Safety, Health and Welfare legislation: Following the judgement on Wednesday, Mark Cullen, Assistant Chief Executive of the Health and Safety Authority, said: “It is vital for employers to ensure that all works being undertaken by their employees are planned, organised, managed and conducted in a safe manner.
