The washed up species was a Fin Whale, second longest whales in the world
The whale was found at Baile Uí Chuill Strand, Ballinskelligs having beached overnight on Saturday, according to Cork Beo.
UCC President John O'Halloran shared a series of photos online where the mammal can be seen washed up on the shore.The species of the mammal is the Fin Whale, second longest whales on earth, with the Blue Whale taking first place.The whales are very distinctive due to their uniquely asymmetrically colouring, with a white lower right jaw contrasting their black lower left jaw.It was originally believed to be around 60 foot long, with the IWDG correcting earlier records.
