Kilkenny star Eoin Cody was speaking at the launch of the Shinty/Hurling international against Scotland at Cusack Park Ennis.
Eoin Cody reckons wanting to win an All-Ireland so badly might be one of the reasons this current Kilkenny generation haven’t got there yet.
“Everyone was coming up saying stuff about the goal. It was the last thing you kind of wanted to hear. I didn’t do too much else in the match. If I could go back in time, I nearly wouldn't have scored it at all. “It wasn't like I planned to do it. Whatever happened just happened - simple as that really. Any other day it would have been cleared by the back.
“As soon as Mick asked me, it was that chance of representing Ireland. Especially after watching the Olympics, you’re thinking about how great it is for those athletes to go out and represent Ireland. Cody, who has completed a degree at Carlow IT, and is looking at a secondary teaching diploma in Hibernia College, says Kilkenny’s defeat by Clare was “a bitter pill to swallow.”
“In Kilkenny we just all want to win one so badly so maybe that could be the reason we haven't maybe gotten there. The hunger is definitely there. That's one thing for sure.”
