With the R&A having made a landmark decision following the storming of the US Capitol Building, Eric Trump has revealed his hopes that the call may eventually be reversed in the future
The son of former US President Donald Trump has revealed he is confident that the Open Championship may return to Turnberry in the future - believing the course has been the "victim" of a political pawn.
The golfing governing body has not changed its stance in the intervening three years but it appears that the Trump family remains hopeful that a reversal may be in the offing. That is according to Eric Trump, who is hoping that a truce may eventually be agreed on both sides of the stand-off. Holding the course in high esteem, the Trump Organization vice president said: "I love my baby. I built every inch of it and it's really the best anywhere in the world. It will be in our family forever and whenever they're ready, we'll be here, we'll be ready and we'll do something very special."
"We will not return until we are convinced that the focus will be on the championship, the players and the course itself and we do not believe that is achievable in the current circumstances."
