With Erik ten Hag understood to have been granted a stay of execution, the next seven games are massive. United will resume their campaign after the October international break against Brentford at Old Trafford next Saturday. It will be their first of seven outings between the restart and the third international window of the season in mid-November. Of that block of fixtures, five will be at Old Trafford, featuring three league games, one in the Europa League and one in the Carabao Cup.
United's performances have been just as bad as their results this season, meaning Ineos, having granted Ten Hag another opportunity to save himself, will be praying their decision does not come back to haunt them. The next seven games are likely to prove decisive in shaping Ten Hag's future.
