Erling Haaland has heartened all Manchester City fans by refusing to rule out a tilt at Alan Shearer's Premier League goalscoring record.
She fuelled speculation that the 23-year-old would soon ahead to Real Madrid, labelling it the "dreamland" of every player. And she also implied Haaland had already orchestrated an exit strategy: “In my agency we try to make a plan," she added. "We have to make a plan. We need to have a goal. Maybe we won’t achieve it but if don’t know where we’re going for sure we don’t get there.
But now he's hinted at wanting to break Shearer's marker of 260 Premier League goals. The former England captain notched that in 441 appearances during 14 seasons as a player with Blackburn and Newcastle, before eventually retiring in 2006. Those comments will raise hopes among City fans that the reigning PFA Player of the Year is now looking at a long-term stint in Manchester. And yet, Shearer's marker is seemingly safe for the foreseeable future.
