An 11-month-old chocolate Labrador has joined the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office to help deputies deal with those they encounter who struggle with mental health issues, substance abuse or are just having a tough day. Millie has finished her basic training and over the next several months she will be engaged in extensive training at Franklin County Sheriff’s Office in Ohio in order to become a Certified Therapy Dog. The certification will be through the Alliance of Therapy Dogs. Authorities said Mille has the genetics and personality best suited for life as a therapy dog. She has an excited but calm temperament and loves meeting new friends.
