Eurostar services from London to Amsterdam are at risk of being suspended for almost a year from April 2024 while building work takes place at Amsterdam Centraal station.
“The potential proposal to move the Dutch departure/arrival lounge from Amsterdam to Rotterdam is not viable due to capacity and safety reasons. Space will be significantly reduced during the building work meaning security and border checks for Eurostar passengers travelling to the UK cannot be carried out at the station.
Eurostar has previously pointed to post-Brexit checks as part of the reason for the reduction in, or scrapping of, other services. In January, Eurostar chief executive Gwendoline Cazenave said bottlenecks at stations had meant that passengers could not be processed in time.
