Eurovision Song Contest winner Jamala is set to showcase her new album as part of the EuroFestival lineup.
The Ukrainian singer-songwriter stormed to victory in Stockholm's 2016 competition with her track, 1944. EuroFestival announced today that she will be bringing her untouchable sound direct to Liverpool as a key part of the city's celebrations. Jamala will debut an extraordinary and poignant new album of music, based on Crimean Tatar folk songs. The performance will invite the audience on a journey across the Ukrainian peninsula Crimea, shining a spotlight on a culture and language most people know little about. QIRIM includes 14 ancient songs, each representing a part of Crimea.
With the new album, she asks: “But is it possible to erase the memory of the monumental beauty of the music that was passed across generations?
