First Premier League hat-trick for the young Irish forward
Ferguson completed his first career hat-trick with 20 minutes remaining, and again took aim from range, with his effort taking a hefty deflection off Fabian Schar to fly beyond the stranded Pope.Ferguson has now scored 10 Premier League goals in just 24 appearances for Brighton and could not head into Ireland’s international break – where Stephen Kenny’s men will play France in Paris and the Netherlands in the Aviva – in better form.
He is the fourth Irish player to score a hat-trick in the Premier League after Leon Best, Robbie Keane and Jon Walters. Brighton are up to fourth in the Premier League table with three wins from four games, while Newcastle are 14th with only one win from four putting pressure on Eddie Howe.
