The young Irish striker has encountered challenges in securing consistent playing time at Brighton due to a combination of form and injury-related setbacks. At the age of 20, Ferguson has featured in 13 Premier League matches this season, but only two of those appearances have been starts.
Danny Welbeck and Georginio Rutter currently occupy the preferred forward positions ahead of the Meath native in Brighton's squad hierarchy. Sky Sports reports indicate that Ferguson is scheduled to travel to London for a medical examination following the Hammers' successful agreement with his parent club.During his pursuit of regular playing opportunities, Ferguson attracted interest from several other Premier League clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Bournemouth, and Everton. This transfer will see him reunited with manager Graham Potter, who granted Ferguson his professional debut at Brighton. West Ham, currently among the lowest-scoring teams in the Premier League this season with 28 goals from 23 matches, received a significant setback earlier in the campaign when striker Michail Antonio sustained a broken leg in a car accident.
