Rainbow Toffees, Everton’s LGBT+ fan group, have previously released a statement on the club’s mooted interest in Gueye. Gueye reportedly withdrew from’s match against Montpellier last season after players were asked to wear shirts with rainbow numbers. Their statement said: “If a football club expects its players to reflect the welcoming and inclusive nature they wish to promote, then someone’s religios beliefs should not be any sort of excuse to oppose inclusivity.
