14 MEPs are being elected across Dublin, Ireland South and Midlands-North-West - see who made the cut
Millions of people across Ireland went to the polls to vote in the 2024 European Parliament Election s.
Fianna Fail has doubled its presence in the European parliament, with Fine Gael on four seats – down one from its previous showing in 2019. Sinn Fein has increased its European representation from one to two, while Labour holds one seat, the Independent Ireland party claimed one and two non-party aligned independents fill the remainder.Dublin The only constituency with one single county, voters in the capital elected four MEPs.
Fine Gael’s Sean Kelly was the only one elected following his success on Monday night. Mr Kelly won 122,777 votes in the Ireland South constituency, surpassing the quota of 114,761. Following 18 counts at Nemo Rangers, Fianna Fáil's Billy Kelleher won his European seat back on Thursday afternoon. Sitting Green Party MEP Grace O'Sullivan lost her seat on Thursday evening, stating that it had been the "honour of her life" to serve as an MEP.
It followed shortly after the election of Fianna Fail’s Barry Cowen, while left-wing independent Luke ‘Ming’ Flanagan was the first candidate over the line in the constituency on Thursday. It was the last constituency to declare in the European Parliament elections.
