UFC fighter Conor McGregor is appearing before the High Court in Dublin for a personal injury case against him, brought by Nikita Ni Laimhin - follow live breaking updates here
Justice Alexander Owens told the jury that the allegation is that Nikita Ni Laimhin, a hair colourist, was sexually assaulted by Mr McGregor and another man - James Lawrence - on December 9 2018. The judge said that it is alleged that the pair had “in effect raped her” on that date.
Mr McGregor and his co-defendant, James Lawrence, of Rafter's Road, Drimnagh, who is also accused of assault, deny the allegations, saying what occurred was consensual. “Kept telling me to relax babe. He pinned me down on the bed. I remember putting my arms up against my chest. He just kept pushing his weight down on top of me. Dr Kane confirms he was there when the plaintiff was brought there by ambulance. She was taken to the sexual assault treatment unit, he says.
