New guidelines to reopen the hospitality sector have left publicans “furious” after they were told they have to take every customer’s name and number for contact tracing purposes.
Customers will have their Covid cert digitally scanned which will prove they are fully vaccinated or recovered from infection at the entrance of a premises.Customers will also have to present photo identification to staff to prove their Covid cert is theirs and will now also have to leave their number and name for contact tracing.
When asked about the reopening of indoor dining only for those who are fully vaccinated or immune, Taoiseach Micheál Martin said “we all have obligations as individuals as well to comply” to the new rules. It will be table service only but the one hour and 45 minute time limit is scrapped but closing time will remain at 11.30pm.
Unvaccinated children once they accompany a fully vaccinated parent or guardian are also allowed to dine indoors.
