Scans also showed three lower limb fractures - including one believed to have occurred around the time of the head injury.Experts said the injuries were closely associated "with the shaking of a child, the twisting of limbs or swinging a child by the legs".
Prosecutors argued Mathias held the baby by his legs and hit him against a surface as well as shaking him. The dad claimed he could not explain Hunter's injuries, saying: "I cannot remember if I banged his head. I was panicking. "I was rushing. I was trying to save my son. I wasn’t thinking about anything else. I was trying to save him.”Senior Investigating Officer, DCI Mark Oughton said: “This has been a protracted and complex investigation and trial, and I welcome the decision reached by the jury today.
