In the field of neuroscience, the D'Or Institute for Research and Education (IDOR) is known for research involving pathologies, from malformations to acquired maladies. The understanding of diseases, however, is not the only focus of the area, which is also committed to theoretical and evolutionary research on the human mind.
Understanding why certain feelings exist, or how the brain reacts to music, coffee, or sports are some of the many topics studied at the institute. Among them, one of the most prominent lines is the one that investigates the human personality in a holistic way, seeking to understand its relationship with cultural, demographic and socioeconomic factors.
"After all, personality is a psychological trait that helps people adjust to the environment they live in, so it's not surprising thatHis most recent publication, an article in the journal, addressed this issue again when interpreting whether the COVID-19 pandemic would have affected personality aspects in different populations of 16 countries.
The study used complex statistical analysis—such as the Bayesian method, considered the gold standard in this type of research—to understand by which characteristics we should limit a population niche in a personality survey, given that the division by countries did not bring comparable quality data.
But the methodology of personality studies is not the main focus of the research group led by the scientist. Dr. Ronald Fischer conducted different studies to understand the relation between culture and personality, and their mutual interference.
