Tony Reeves was paid a handsome compensation package after his sudden departure from the local authority last summer amid reports of a fall out with government commissioners
Former Liverpool City Council chief executive Tony Reeves received compensation of more than £175,000 after he quit his post at the top of the local authority last year.
It was, after all, Mr Reeves who really got the ball rolling in exposing some of the many and major issues at the Cunard administration that would lead to the devastating Max Caller government inspection report, which led directly to the commissioners arriving in Liverpool in the summer of 2021. This, added to the £81,896 salary payments he had received before he quite the local authority, means that Mr Reeves received a total remuneration package of £257,418 for the financial year of 2022/23. This is a larger package than his £234,030 salary for the previous year.
