Westmoreland, who had a recurring role as the title character’s grandfather in the Disney Channel series, was arrested in 2018 after communicating online with a police officer posing as a boy. “Andi Mack” stars Asher Angel as Jonah Beck, Sofia Wylie as Buffy Driscoll, Joshua Rush as Cyrus Goodman, Peyton Elizabeth Lee as Andi Mack, Lilan Bowden as Bex Mack, Lauren Tom as Celia Mack, and Stoney Westmoreland as Ham Mack.
According to the charges, Westmoreland asked if the boy “would come to his hotel room and engage in sexual activity.” The actor sent three pictures of male genitalia and one of men having sex. After his arrest, Westmoreland “admitted to sending nude photos, and that the male who he was speaking with told him he was 13 years old.”
However, Westmoreland’s lawyers argued that their client knew he was communicating with an adult on Grindr and had no intention of meeting a 13-year-old. According to the charges, however, Westmoreland used a ride-sharing app to travel to meet the boy and bring him back to his room at the Little America Hotel.
